I never thought Jonny69 would emerge from the shadows to be OcUK's energy saving light bulb expert reviewer.
Here's the score; I use 150w regular bulbs. I have a big room, and I like it to be bright. I also rock a dimmer switch. Also, I'm really sensitive to light temperatures. I'm doomed aren't I?.
It's not really fair, because the temperature of the light has a real effect on the atmosphere, imo (I'm a photographer/cinematographer by skill-set), and traditional bulbs are roughly 'right'..
At the moment I'm getting away with it because my dads store sells 100/150w bulbs, and can still get hold of them. I'm fearing this might end at some point in the future. Any particular recommendations?.

Get one of these. Equivelent to a 225watt incandescent bulb and only uses 45watt energy. They're not too bright and you can get either warm or daylight colour temp.
They're bigger than a normal bulb though so you'd need to check it'll fit your lamp shade.
Tbh I've used 6000k and 2700k (cold/warm) cfl's and they're too brutal for me, the cold bulbs are too cold, and the warm bulbs make you feel as though you're on mars. Normal bulb - just right
