Actually a soarer is a good shout. They are underrated but I feel getting a bit old now and there's lots of nasty clocked tat about :( especially cause so many need replacement dashes. I've had two 1991 tt soarers and very much enjoyed driving them.

Great engines :)

Not knowing the proper mileage of my one winds me up no end, but I imagine a good majority of imports have "hair cuts" what with the dodgy KM to Miles conversions and the like, so it isn't a soarer specific problem I suppose.

I won't deny that they are old cars but I think they look quite sharp compared to a lot of other early 90s cars. Reliability they are pretty good too, I bought a rough grand example with very little history and have only spent £150 in repairs & servicing.

Were your two standard? How did they ultimately compare to the Jag? That's a car that I have an eye on :).

first one was standard and in good nick - second was a tatty one with a few mods like air filter and lowered suspension.

They never felt that fast to be honest, probably cause they are fairly quiet.A t the time I was 21 and it was the quickest Jap car for the buck I could find.

I would say that the stock soarer felt better screwed together than the Jag I have now. Jag is more comfy but a hell of a lot thirstier. I've been averaging 16 mpg on my commute :\
