Yesterday I swapped over the rear drivers side door of our Mondeo Mk2, as the original was dented and we'd obtained a door from the scrapyard when getting other bits.

Simple enough job, didnt think there'd be much of a problem - the new door had an electric window not manual, I didnt expect it to work - and it didnt.

Problem is, neither did the central locking!

Anyone any ideas as to why? Is it likely to be wired up different due to having an electric window? (Yes the electrical connector is fine, the speaker worked.)

Would rather not have to put the old door back on :(

Because i'm not skilled enough / dont know enough about car electrics.

I'm a northener, I can undo nuts and bolts and hit things with a big hammer :p

I know that feeling.

This is why its VITAL you find small cheap mechanic nearby for simple jobs!

It shouldn't be too hard, if you're not sure then take some good pics of the wires and the way they are on the old, then do the same again on the new, this way you put which door back together again. Then start dismantling/unplugging and then rebuild, using the pics if needed on the other door.

If you swapped the door over its not really that hard to swap over the central locking motor as its all plug and play..
