i'd love to see Robbie G and Fox at the same meet.

Then when they spend the entire meet arguing in the corner somebody can do what we all felt like doing and just slap them both round the back of the head and say "oi, both of you, stop it!" :D

He probably is a really top guy IRL. Most people are. The internet gives people dutch courage and the ability to be honest and say what they really think. This is mostly a good thing but not always.

Just think about your RL mates who you don't know from internet car forums. I bet they drive some right ****. Yet I bet you've never argued with them about it. Because... real life isnt an internet motoring forum.

This is why you come to the internet to waffle on about cars because real life mates glaze over at the mention of leather conditioner dont they.

Robbie G was on these forums for years before venturing into motors, got offended by fox's posts and stuck around ever since purely to pick fights with him. Dont think he's been to a meet yet ...

To be fair to Robbie G I always though he was an annoying knob on GD, but he's mellowed the last year or so. Once that awful Polo is sold when he has his baby he'll be a 100% top bloke. ;)

Absolutely. This is a place where we can all come to have a discussion/debate/fight/chat/virtual pint about all things motoring and what people think about all things motoring and why diesels suck and why everyone who thinks diesel is great is WRONG.

I expect a lot of us come here for similar reasons, because our real life mates are probably just that because of circumstances outside of pure interests, such as what school we went to, where we grew up, university, work ...and all those other unpredictable factors that bring certain people together and create friendships. However rarely I think will you find you have 100% compatible interests in all things, but you have to give and take with real life friends ships, this isn't true of the internet of course.

The advantage ...or disadvantage of the internet (depending on how you look at it) is that we can quite literally stick an advert for specific interests up and talk to other people who have the same interest as much as we like, interest forums are great for this. But the expectations are different to real life, to an extent, we can literally talk as much as we want about the most obscure subjects and someone will probably talk back and keep it going, this doesn't really happen in real life. I know you jest but seriously, if you want to have an in-depth discussion about leather cleaner ...you almost certainly could over on detailing world or something, which I think is great.

Also another distinct advantage of the internet is that you can be almost as rude as you like to people without the risk of getting punched, you can call them idiots, morons, knuckle dragging monosyllabic throwbacks ...and all the while sit here nice and cosy with a cup of tea feeling superior while they rant and rave about how they want to cave your face in. I love the internet :D

**** off, Moeks. You're a moron. Yeah, you heard me.

The internet is wonderful really. Fox is right, most people are completely different IRL at meets and such. Wouldn't this place be a bit dull if it was just as hum-drum as a real life casual conversation about cars with some random person over a beer or a coffee :p

Its because this place is a bit blunt that its good.

Go and have a look on the Jag forum, its all one big back slap. I couldnt even bring myself to join even though iv read it for years, id be banned in a week :)

Yea thats it along with "iv just been made redundant so im going to borrow 2k off me mum and finance the other 19k for x car, what do you all think?"

TOP MOVE GEORGE, GET IN THERE SON!!!!!!!

Fox has ripped into me several times for my inevitable face palms. no complaints and TBH i find myself looking for his posts to see what he has an opinion on today!

long may he reign and long may his 530i continue to give him joy, and empty his pockets!

It always makes me laugh when someone posts a thread on a single make forum asking whether said make of car is any good ...of course you can imagine the answers. OcUK is the best place I have found for getting a 'real' answer to such questions. You might not get certain specific details you'ed like but you wont just get one opinion either.
