Bangernomics? Dam Yeah !!

What an absolute shed.

;)

lol ;)

Yeah been chatting to a few peeps on the AR forum and it seems like polybushing is not the way to go . There is a knuckle bearing at the bottom of the hub that seems to cause a lot of issues so i think i will start with that .

The reason for looking at the rear suspension is i have a shimmy when hitting a bump with one wheel and it feels like the whole rear is moving .. Only happens every now and again but spoils the ride .. car is fine in the corners and no noises or bangs and goes over speedsbumps fine ..

OEM all the way, even if you spend a few quid, you got it cheap and what a nice place to be.

lol so true :)

tbh if i had the space i would buy another as a project or to break . if this dies for any reason the parts are worth a lot more than the car .

I'm not a big fan of polybushes to be honest - I don't mind the ride getting harder etc. but they don't tend to last long IME (certainly not the life of the car as claimed by some) and they can squeak very annoyingly.

WIN!

What's that motor like with the sportronic? I turned down a lot of 156 V6s with it because I wanted a manual. Is a 4 speed auto enough range? Is the manual mode any more than a gimmick?

Its nice and smooth in auto and drives quite well . responds quick to kickdown and is relaxing to drive .

in manual its a 4 speed sequential . forward for up a gear back for down a gear . seems to work well enough and holds on to the redline but will change up if u dont . once again changes quickly and although no manual allows you to get a hussle on when required .

you dont have the same control as a manual but i dont think the 166 was made to win any races

That looks like rather a bargain there, at least it does provided that it doesn't break and cost you £3000 or something. Nice :)

Very nice,cracking buy.

Remember one of the directors where I used to work had a silver 166 as his company car.

Bet whoever let him have that in the procurement dept was shot, was pretty much worthless when it's time was up and it was replaced.

Remember them saying it went to auction for a stupidly low price.

its done 120,000 miles already so it cant be that bad :)

With a top end rebuild already :p

Top end re-build... so it dropped the belt? I wonder if the re-build included big end shells, the V6 is the worst for those failing after a piston vs. valve event. If it's covered 25kmiles since the re-build I'd imagine they did it right.

Nothing on the invoice for anything on the bottom end

16 valves replaced (8 inlet 8 zorst)
2 head gaskets
timing belt
tensioner
aux belt
water pump
anti freeze
engine oil
filter

£2122.52 :P

top end rebuild was about 90k .. also had another £800 service a year later ..

Boot space is huge . easily get 3-4 bodies in there and a shovel ... or for the normal family i did a £100 shop on sat and boot was only half full
