Last night I phoned HMV and asked if they had GOW 3 for PS3 in the pre-owned section, they came back and said yes its available at £19.98. I thought "sweet ill pick it up tomorrow"

So my mum was going over to the shopping center that had the HMV I contacted in it so I gave her £20 and asked her to pick it up for me.

Also on the HMV website the game brand new is £27.99

She came back and handed me the game with a pre-owned sticker and a price tag of £29.99!!

Of course I didn't tell her before she left that it should have been 19.98 nor did I check the new price, she just went in and asked for a pre-owned copy of GOW 3 and thats what the guy brought her.

Did she get ripped off? Or is the website price incorrect and did the guy yesterday get mixed up with another game?

Going to take it back later and explain :p

Website and store have little to do with each other now so comparing online prices to store prices is a waste of time.

You sent your mum out to buy your computer games? Either you're the saddest 20 year old I've ever encountered and the extra tenner was a valid 'young, dumb & living off mum' tax, or you're admitting to contravening laws regarding sale of age-restricted material to minors.

His mum was going to the shopping mall that had that particular HMV store in it, so why would he go out specifically for one game when his mum was already going out anyway?

You're the sadest poster out there. He and his mum are over 18. :p

Stock in places like HMV always seems to be randomly priced. I've often found the same CD for multiple prices, as it's gone through various promotions and so on.

What law? all the law is there for is to prevent the shop selling directly to a minor. Even if he was a minor if his mum goes and buys it and then decides its suitable for her son to use theres no law against it neither is it contravening any law.

They price preowned games based on condition, availability and age of title dont they. I have seen plenty of places where a mint copy will be a fair bit more than one in quite poor condition box wise.
