Yep it's a welcome change. I've tried finesse on the rare occasions I've had a 1 v 1 and the keeper has saved the majority of them by stretching. Last year he would have just watched them go past.

Oh and while we're at it pressure is now utterly useless. The a.i on any level of difficulty and at any club seem to all have this houdini like ability to avoid tackles and interceptions until it gets to the last man when they become ridiculously easy to tackle :(

Honestly Fifa 11 plays a crap game of football so far. Passing and general attacking play is much more fun but defense is just utterly ****. I'd love to think they'll patch this but have they ever fixed issues like this in a patch?

It plays a crap game of football? No chance.

Defending has just changed a bit, its fairly easy to grasp but you have to change how you go about things.

I'll say it again, people are just playing it like its FIFA 10 and if you do that you will encounter problems, that could be considered a design flaw, but I think its excellent.

How to you get the ball back then? Unless it's with the furthest man forward the A.I can pass through any gap, it' almost impossible to intercept. I've played a good 30 matches and I'm seeing no battles in midfield at all, the midfield seems almost pointless at times.
 
I find myself using L2 to stand off the approaching player more than I used to, then at the right time you can tackle using a stand tackle, or slide in.

I find most games are all about the midfield so far. I guess it depends on your playstyle.
 
How on earth would it depend on my play style :confused:

I'm talking about when the A.I. has the ball, moving it from defence to attack. Holding off with L2 just means they pass around you to the front man, going in and pressuring means they either pass it quickly around you or pull off some ridiculous skill move (even if you're playing Accrington Stanley)
 
What difficulty are you playing on?

It can depend on your play style because of the way in which you defend, anticipation, movement of players, etc.

I haven't found it a problem on everything up to World Class, I haven't tried on Legendary yet, so maybe you are playing on that?
 
damnit spent ages trying to beat my friends list "quickest arena goal" yesterday the fastest was 1.91 seconds, today i managed 1.89 seconds only to notice someone has already got 1.86 :(
 
After all this technology these days how can companies not make decent games.
The other day i was playing and i had the germany team when i was arsenal listed so i couldnt make any changes and today i was playing some kid and he paused. Now that the pause menu finishes it decides to just go around the stadium playing music and not the game. That means my DNF has to go up as i have to dash board. FFS EA
 
Think all the bugs that forced you to quit the game are all still there but theyve added more in for fun :rolleyes:. New one to me is sometimes when you are in the main menu and choose an option it puts the new menu on the right hand side of the screen and not superimposed on the left and promptly crashes.

Dont think in Club we had a single game where not one of us didnt have to reboot the game...

Is there something wrong with pro clubs aswell because every time i go into one of them it only has about 4 or 5 people in

I dont have trouble tackling in midfield. Had some good battles and the ai help out too. I generally use them to steer them in a particular way and make the tackle myself. If you time it well you can take the ball off them. Watch their control more, if the ball comes away from them a little make the challenge. Don't just jump in tackling them.

I think you just have to bind your timing better in tihs. Be a little more patient.

Yeah, everytime I go into a pro ranked match there is only ever me and 2 other people, I have no idea why and going back to the main menu, waiting, and searching for another game don't solve the problem, it's always me and either 1 or two other people who promptly leave.

Sometimes it calls Sebastien Squillaci by his proper name but the majority of the time it seems to call him Sebastien Engelhardt.
