I have just finished my first build, and go to connect my monitor. I had to use a dvi cable from the gpu to the monitor, as the motherboard has a male vga cable, yet my monitor isn't picking this up. Does it matter if its coming from the gpu to the monitor, as i am unable to check the motherboard.

Any help appreciated

Well, lets just say i try to boot it up and my monitor picks nothing up (with the dvi cable from gpu)

Samsung SyncMaster P2450H 24" 1920x1080
phenom ii x4 965
MSI Gtx 460 1024mb
MSI 870A-G54 (which has a male vga :/)
2x2gb corsair xms3 1600mhz ddr3
Be quiet 600w psu

Should be all thats relevent

Yes, it should be coming from the GPU to the monitor. Re-check all your connections, in particular those between the GPU/Monitor/Power supply.

Also, check your monitor settings to see if it using the right input.

Checked connections and there fine, and my monitor is set to digital for dvi.

What I got of the image shows motherboard standoffs.

You need one for each fixing location on the motherboard and no more.

If you have any mounted to the back panel which do not line up with the fixing locations on the motherboard they should be removed.

They are likely to cause a short which is definitely not desirable.

have you got the extra motherboard power cable plugged in too, and the two 6pin for the GTX460?

i have the 24 pin and p8 power cables connected to motherboard.

i dont have anything connected to gtx 460 (just connected to motherboard) because i couldnt see where to connect it

you mean one of these

the gtx460 needs two pcie connectors for power plugged in.

the psu has three I believe to pick from.
