OK so I have an Asus P5N-D mobo at mo which is causing me some problems with my sata devices and the northbridge overheating so I am looking for a replacement 775 mobo...

The only ones I can find appear to be the Asus P5Q Deluxe and Premium models? Any suggestions?

These are all LGA775...

What cpu do you have and do you plan to o/c?

You don't really want to be spending big money on an LGA775 motherboard at this time...This is good value for the money...

Asus P5Q Deluxe is a fine motherboard, that being said if your planning on
upgrading too i-series any time within the next year or so then get the GA-G31M-ES2L.

Im not planning on i series till this time next year In sticking with 775 right now.

Mine does I have E8400 and it will not boot anything above (9*1333/4) or (9*333) which ever way you read it at stock. I had a striker extreme and was running this chip at 4.6ghz

There are numberous reviews of this board where there is a fsb wall as there is a chip limation and due to it been PCI-E frequency.

What chip do you have a what are you bios settings?

I have two boards right now, Im running my P5Q deluxe for a few days, the ga-g31m-es2l has just been pulled but I will be using it again on Thursday.

It has only been 24 hours or so since i pulled the board so I remember the main settings.

CPU volts: 1.36 (just over the stock vid of the chip)
RAM volts: 2.1v 5-5-5-15(2 gig pc2 8500 OCZ sli edition, stock, had to set it though)
375FSB (x8)

I know I booted 400x8 but didnt find stable so never tried much else as wanted to play MW2 more than I wanted to play with OC'ing at that time.

Will post proof in but a few days.

BTW that was on a E2140, only 800FSB with a multi of 8

A E8400 is 1333MHz with I think a multi of 9, should over clock nicely as well, I did find attaching a little fan to the NB heatsink improved OC stability, oh and newest BIOS.

I would like some advice as well please guys... my daughters P4 Mobo has gone belly up and also want another board making use of the CPU and memory that is still good

having not upgraded much in recent times I see some of the suggested Mobo's have G31 in the name I am presuming that a G31 board is different from the one in her PC
which is a dual core P4 2400mhz
and the dead board is an
asus P5W DH Deluxe

I have lost touch with all the various CPU's and Mobo's and obviously dont want to buy a board that the CPU wont work with

cheap and working is what I am after... and not interested in overclocking it for my daughter
thanks
Chris

The GA-G31M-ES2L will work http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-221-GI&utm_source=froogle

All you really looking for is a socket 775 with ddr2 support

I've had the Asus P5QLD Pro for several months now and it stays a hell of a lot cooler than my old P5N-D used to and a lot less glitchy too. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a socket 775 mobo.
