my current monitor is

ViewSonic VX2260WM 22 inch Widescreen LCD Monitor which is now not sold on ocuk. this is it

i was just wondering if the monitor im being offered is better? i know its 2 inches bigger. and i know at 70 pound its really cheap, he needs the money. the monitor is like brand new, went and viewed it already. So can anyone tell me if it would be worth me getting that and getting rid of mine. or is the viewsonic better?

thanks guys

The ViewSonic actually produces the superior image out of the two. Keep it.

Yes. They aren't miles apart but the colour gradients in particular are better on the ViewSonic and the colours in general, at higher contrasts, are more distinct.

Are you needing to plug in a PC as well as HDMI source (such as games console, HDTV box or Blu-ray player)?

If you are just connecting the PC, then DVI will be just as good as HDMI - as the image quality is the same.

no mate, just for pc gaming. dvi is the same as hdmi? is it exactly the same? i did not know that.

sorry for double posting, ive done it before realising.

Yup, dvi is electronically compatible with hdmi. The video signal is the same, so the image quality of the two is identical. The main differences are that DVI does not carry sound and the connector is different. Also, DVI is available in dual link configuration which provides much more bandwidth than HDMI 1.3, but unless you need 120Hz or 1440p or bigger res then it shouldn't be an issue.

May I ask, are you in a position where you could buy the 24in for £70 and keep your 22in? This will mean you can run a dual screen arrangement, which I find to be extremely useful.

I think the ViewSonic you're using must have more 'muted' colours. The BenQ on the other hand probably has slightly more vibrant colours (judging from the HDBL model I used). I haven't used the ViewSonic for a while and I'm not sure if it was the exact same model but I'm glad you prefer the BenQ. I'll admit I might've got the ViewSonic model wrong - they have a fair few :D
