my mate came round last week saying he had received 3 letters over the last 4 months for downloading a Ministry of Sound album on Dec 30th 2009.
He's 55, into Led Zeppelin/The Eagles, no kids in the house and he was on a cruise all christmas.
He's also never heard of torrents but gets all his iffy stuff from his Brother In Law (so he's not squeaky clean).
The last reply he sent copies of his cruise tickets/confirmation and he's heard nothing yet.
Not worth starting a thread for, but my tutor at the College of Law told me an amusing and related story last week.
She was driving her car when a car pulled out infront of her resulting in a crash. The man from the other car immediately got out and started threatening legal action and telling her what the law was on the matter. In short, he was claiming it was all her fault and that she would be made to pay for the damage. She asked:
"Are you sure that's the law?"
"Yes it's the law! I'm a solicitor! Who the hell are you?"
"Really? I'm a judge"
The word pwned has never been more appropriate.
As for 4chan, yes, they acted against the law, but in this case, if any charges are brought, I hope they get a light sentence...
But they never take anyone to court because there are enough unfortunate schmucks that will pay the extortionate demands to make it go away. I've received two letters from this company, ignored/shredded both and haven't heard a thing about either case since. Since the papers aren't serviced by anyone, there's no proof I received a thing.
...
How could the authorities charge 4chan?

lolHow do you expect them to track down 'x' number of anonymous people from the internet?

ACS/Downfall parody: ***Removed*** - NSFW
It's in German (obviously) but the subtitles are quite offensive (and hilarious).
