International terrorism highly likely!!

It's all ****'s and giggles until a bus explodes, then it's not so funny anymore.
Pretty much. Tell the woman who had to tie off and lose both of her own legs on the underground 'meh', or any one of the hundreds of relatives who lost people.

No that's not "pretty much" what it is. That's like saying it's all fun and games playing football until someone breaks a leg, or it's all fun and games enjoying a nice country road drive until a horse jumps out in front of you out of nowhere and you swerve off a hill and die.

Might as well stay behind constant safety and fear (and a dull life) if that's the way people see things all the time IMO.

It was 5 years ago, do you still live in fear of the Irish bombing you too?

Having experienced first hand an IRA bombing, no I'm not still scared of them. My point was more that these things shouldn't be dismissed merely with 'meh'. We should be given more information perhaps, though the counter argument for that is of course security of the operations and personnel involved.

The level is kept at extreme all the time, it's like it's just to cover their backs.
It's meaningless for me, and I'll carry on taking their threat level with a hijacked airliner full of salt.

Yes but life must go on!

Why feel the need to let us know that international terrorism is highly likely!

OH NOES!!! I MUST......wait, I must do what now? Not go to work? Not take my kids to school, call the police next time I see an arab in town?

I just don't get what announcing such things actually achieves.

My 'meh' was meant as, what difference does this piece of news actually make to the way I live my life?

Nah you can pretty much dismiss the "threat level" as meh, because it hasn't changed in over half a decade.

What exactly is worrying about it or constantly thinking about it going to do?

Unless you're going to start rugby tacking dodgy looking Asian blokes carrying back packs on the tube it's not going to change anything.

I'm not sure what the home office are trying to achieve by announcing a high threat? Mass hysteria, panic, what do they want?

The only advise I would give is don't live in Emmerdale..
