Book reveals The Stig's identity. Top Gear not happy.

Does anyone watch 5th gear?

Its far too cheesy, childish and irritating to be even remotely watchable. And has recently been trying FAR too hard to be Top Gear.

Only their occasional 'safety' experiments are worth a few minutes watch IMO.

Typical Fifth GEar to be honest: a pale imitation of TG. I do like their 'normal' car reviews though; TG has too many supercars.

Why do you care about normal car reviews though, if you want a normal car review buy What Car or just go to the dealer who will lend you a car to drive yourself.

TV is for cool stuff not boring tedious junky diesel things.

Even Ferrari's become boring when they've reveiwed a billion of them...

At least more normal cars are actually accessible to most people. Your arguement about What Car: why watch any factual programming then? Go to your library, newsagents or look up the raw facts on Google...

Not the same thing. It is completely free to experience a car first hand which you wish to buy.

It is not completely free to go on a Safari to Africa, find out about the inner workings of civil engineering, or whatever else most factual programmes are about.

If I want to see how utterly tedious the new Vauxhall Astra is, I along with anyone else can simply visit my local retailer and take one out for a few hours.

I cannot do this with a Ferrari, so I enjoy watching them on the TV.

I never get that, who wants to see normall cars. How often do you buy one, you can also test drive them. Totally pointless in a car show IMO.

Well obviously it wouldn't be great if the show was all about Fiestas

It's only my opinion but I just get bored watching reviews of a £200k Merc that's slightly different to the last £200k Merc they reviewed a couple of months ago, for example.

And you wouldnt get bored seeing a review of a £12k Punto thats slightly different to the £15k Astra they reviewed a couple of months ago?

What do you even do when you review an Astra diesel? Talk about mpg? Demonstrate the ISOFIX child seat mountings? Explain how many cupholders it has>?

I'll have you know that cup holders are an integral part of my driving experience

Actually that kind of information is going to be much more useful to me than a how fast 11 slightly different BMWs go around their track. I'm not saying there shouldn't be Lambos and Bugattis OBVIOUSLY, I'd just like to see a variation.

Each to his own, though.

5thG lacks TG's style, though and I find some of their presenters awful. At least one of them is worth looking at though ;)

Every series of TG features at least one cheap car. Fiesta, Renault Twingo, etc..

And I cannot remember the last time they tested a BMW on the track. Must have been the E92 M3 which was what.. 3 years ago?
