Hi all
I ve got around £500 to burn not sure to get a iPad or not?
I did not like surfing net on the sofa with my laptop as to bulky.
So at home I use my HTC desire to surf net but the screens a bit small.
Can you make your own folders in email? Also is surfing the net any good on the iPad? And can you store movies on it?

Thanks

Hi all
1. I ve got around £500 to burn not sure to get a iPad or not?
2. Can you make your own folders in email? 2b. Also is surfing the net any good on the iPad?
3. And can you store movies on it?

1. Be careful about burning it as an iPad will burn that money very easily. I would strongly suggest getting to a shop that has one and have a good play with it.
2. I'm not sure
2b. It is quite a nice experience and I think it feels even better if you're used to a small touch screen such as the iPhone. Remember about Flash though as it could eliminate some sites you like to browse/use.
3. You can (via iTunes) and you can also stream to the iPad as well I believe.

I've been debating whether to get one for a while or not and believe me, I'm happy to spend that kind of money on gadgets. But I just don't feel I would get the proper use out of it.

VLC is now out, its great for iPad. Drag & Drop = instant movies.

VLC is great. Like you say drag and drop movies.

Love my iPad. Since buying it the laptop doesn't get used and pc use has dropped off since I can process/edit pics from camera on the iPad.

Does the camera kit work well btw? Like does it take long to 'import' the photo/video from the memory stick to the iPad? Does it even take video :o?

Import of pics from the sd card is pretty quick.
Haven't tried video, but the GF1 can record in mov so in theory it should import.

Surely that's not the GF1s raw output your editing?

Not editing RAW at the moment. Waiting for FilterStorm Pro to arrive for that.
Jpeg from the GF1 is pretty good anyway.
Saying that, been bitten by the Apple bug and looking at a 27" iMac for processing along with the magic tablet, easier on my hands.

Replying to this on the iPad. So much easier. Typing is quick and easy.

Personally id wait to see what the new Android and Blackberry tablets bring to the table...specs wise they are much better but software wise no one really knows.

Was planning on getting one but ill wait till the Blackberry tablet is out then decide which one to go for...specs wise im afraid the BB and Android tablets are much better.

Im still thinking of getting one...will see what happens in a week or so and have another play with one. ;)

They seem worse in the Apple store then actually having one.

I played quite a while in-store, and decided it was heavy and slow to load pages etc, and uncomfortable to hold.

However now I have my own its none of these things.

Standing up and holding it like in the Apple store is not ideal, they need to put some chairs in there.

Our apple store has a bunch of bean bags, and if you ask one of the staff, and they quite often have iPad's next to them. :p

I would wait for the next gen of ipads personally, especially with competitors such as the blackberry playbook coming out soon. The new HTC desire hd will be out soon aswell which is another option. :)
