Hey guys,

I'm about to buy this laptop for a family member, and I want to make sure it's alright before going ahead as it's quite a large purchase. The model is as follows:

http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/series/Satellite-R630-series/1087012/

The Toshiba R630 range, specifically the "Satellite R630-135"

The thing is I'm really not into laptops, however the person I'm buying it for has been to a store, seen this and prefers it over all the rest. I think it's mainly due to the design and weight (it's meant to be really light).

My main concerns were as follows:

- It has onboard graphics, not a dedicated ATI chipset
- It has a glossy screen (not sure how glossy but I always figured matt screens were better due to sunlight etc)
- I've read a couple of reviews mentioning heat problems

Please may someone help me out here? Ideally I need to purchase it tomorrow, but it could wait a day or so longer if necessary.

I don't want to get something else and have them dissapointed, so unless there was some serious flaw or much better make/model perhaps it will be alright?

Thank you in advance for any assistance :D

Personally for that money I'd want a much better GPU, but if he's comfortable spending the money on it, and doesn't want it for any real gaming, then it should be fine.

Other than that, it looks like a nice little laptop.

Glossy screens are pretty much standard on all laptops these days. No great in direct sunlight, but fine everywhere else.

Sorry I forgot to mention that no gaming would be played on the laptop.

I suppose it's the higher price, without a better GPU, due to the portability factor?

Either way I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making a big mistake and this was some terrible range that was being killed off soon or something :p

Yeah I guess so. I personally can't stand them though. I have a nice little Samsung netbook that is matt and also my main Dell monitor is matt
