HSV VE Clubsport R8 Series 1 MY09

What can I say - I love it. 425 bhp V8 6.2 :D. The noise it makes is truly awesome and I've been through 1 and a half tanks of fuel in it already since I picked it up on Friday morning - can't keep off the loud pedal :o. It's very difficult to stay legal - I went out for a drive around Sydney highways tonight and in the first 15 minutes I passed 5 police patrol cars  - they're very hot on speeding here - so I ended up going home. It's the fastest and newest car I've ever owned so I'm finding myself parking it differently and thinking about where I take it far more than my older cars.

I was planning on giving it a quick review but I really haven't got time at the moment. Watch this space - I may get around to giving it a once over on here at some stage.

Just wanted to share!

I'd say don't take it to Thorney but it's a bit far from Sydney (thankfully!)

Very nice car anyway. It's the sound what sells these to me, same with the Audi RS4.

how many aussie dollars did it cost? so i can convert it too sterling and get depressed that its equivalent to a base spec Ford over here.

what a name

I had shortened it :D The extended name is

Holden Special Vehicle Clubsport R8 VE Series 1 MY09

In my haste I forgot to mention in my OP that it has an OTRCAI (*breath* Over The Radiator Cold Air Induction) kit fitted which is meant to add a few more horses and more :eek::eek: aural candy linked to the loud pedal.

I've already looked at Walkinshaw - apparently, whilst they're not bad per say, they're all the rage and have a premium associated so I might be looking at going elsewhere for a custom exhaust if I feel the need...who knows!

If I convert back, such is the exchange rate at the moment, it actually ends up close to £28,000 which is more expensive than in the UK, I assume this is due to the small demand for them in Blighty - case in point, near-identical spec VXR8:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2055734.htm

£26,000 for a 200 mile brand new with custom exhaust. Mine has a minor engine mod, is 2 years old and has 3,500 miles on the clock.

Still - good luck paying £1.30+ per litre of VPower in it! It's 80p a litre over here and often cheaper! Lovely.

Same car but with the older LS2 engine. My MY09 has the LS3.

Good thing about Oz is the plethora of choice you've got with the exhausts

Wortec and Walkinshaw is about all we can get here, but i know one or two others have considered importing stuff from oz thats cheaper.

the OTRCAI is a popular mod on www.hsv.org.uk (UK HSV forums) so it looks like its nicely setup for power gains if you decide to remap it :)
