Hey there,

My IPOD 5th Gen headphones are bust

I checked on the bay for a replacement there are so many diff types, the standard ones, ones with coloured headphones, standard type with remote control on end etc

Can anyone kindly recommend decent replacements? Not which cost an arm n leg

Thanks

Just watch out for fakes if you use eBay. There are a huge number of copies out there, and they're not as good.

Personally, I'm using CX500s, but haven't had a genuine pair of CX300s so can't offer a fair comparison.

I think you're talking about earphones. You should get headphones though, it annoys me how many people I see listening to their music on the incredibly poor quality standard ipod earphones.

Massive headphone cans = massive cool :D

For home use, I much prefer headphones. But for use on the streets, expect some strange looks - the Sennheisers are much more practical (though I'll take my Bose noise cancelling headphones if I'm going on a plane).

Really? Maybe it's because I live in a city with a lot of young people but I haven't noticed this at all. As long as they are closed can for public transport etc I wouldn't see a problem. (although to be fair I rarely take my SR80's onto the train for this reason)

I wear headphones (NS1000's) all the time out the house, the only time I get strange looks is when the weather is terrible and I'm wearing a hood, and to be fair, I look like I have a massive head with it up! :D

I had the CX-300 II's and while they're ok, I didn't think they were anything special. They did survive longer than the average earphones for me though which is a bonus and they still get used when I head to the pub.

cheers guys

I am looking at the cx300 ver II and cx500 , the cx500s have volume control on the cable, does that come in handy? they are both the same price..

Also should I ensure their is a warranty from sennheiser when I purchase them? as Im looking on the bay, the cx300 ver II do not appear to have warranty I have asked the seller but the cx500 do, which would you go for? I am inclined to go for the cx500 do you think there is much of a difference?

i have the ns1000, but found them unpleasant to wear when i walk around. They make such a good seal around your ear, that each step is deafening. How do you do it?

I bought some superfi 5 (not the pro's) intending them to be used for walking around. Unfortunately I have found the cable is so sensitive to touch that they are very "noisy" when moving. Are these faulty - i dont get why the cable is so sensitive?

I don't have that problem at all, maybe it's the way you walk? I don't have the volume up very high at all either so I'm not just drowning the sound out.

As for the cable, I find that issue with a lot of headphones, best thing I can suggest is clipping it to your clothes near your neck, that way any vibration from lower on the cable won't make a sound ;)

Hmm, I'm a fast walker too so I can't see that being an issue, I find breathing (without noise cancelling) to be an issue but footsteps? Nothing
