Circus's - Should they be banned?

Perhaps eventually evolving would be better all round than scrapping them altogether. I don't like the thought of animals in a circus so I welcome a change there.

So why should animals in circuses be banned? Especially when you see reports of animals in their native countries in danger of extinction due to wars, natural disasters and poaching.

Perhaps the safest place for many creatures is in a circus or zoo.

No animal should be kept in captivity, least of all for human entertainment. Zoo's are widely recognised as saviours of endangoured species. Circuses on the other hand exploit the animals with little interest into rehabilitating the species, setting up breeding programs etc. While I don't believe all circuses are cruel to animals, they do not have the same (albeit minimal) freedom zoo's provide.

How did that bite not make the guy bleed or even look like he was injured? I get he's probably wearing some protective gear but he had nothing on his head?

Probably because they are tame lions and are very well fed but just got a bit naughty.
Water won't hurt them and prodding with a stick will be like prodding your dog with a finger.
There's nothing to really see here.

I was so gunning for the lions then. Look, if you go antagonising big moggies with big teeth and big claws then you deserve the big ass kicking you're going to get.

I've seen a few circus acts, great athletic performances are far more enjoyable than watching some bloke herd up a bunch of big cats. They just get carted from town to town with no real life :(

A circus really doesn't need animals, high flying acrobatics and balance acts are where it's at :)

Zoo's (in developed countries) on the other hand are vital for the survival of animals with limited numbers, with breeding programmes helping replenish their numbers
