Step in the right direction...(advice)

Not based on first hand experience but rather on reading several reviews and listening to people on these boards I would advise that the safest bet is the MSI. It is very well thought of, whereas quite a few people have objected to the noise levels of the Gainward model.

I am not sure if this is something known about the Gainward in general, but why go with the sketchier option if the alternative is basically thought to be the best of an admittedly very good bunch of of 460s.

Haha, stulid do you drink a lot of coffee or something? . . because your posts are coming across really "tense" . . . I feel myself getting "tense" reading what you say! :D . . . maybe switch to decaf or something! ;) . . . we are talking about computer hardware man not a life & death situation . . . . chill out please!

Hows this one?

MSI GeForce GTX 460 Cyclone 768MB

£129.99 inc

did you find one person somewhere in the world that wrote a review that makes you tense and therefore we can't recommend the MSI Cyclone card to anyone? :D

Can't blame him...my hair stood the moment I heard "Palit" as well :D
Really wish Palit didn't cut back so much on doing their "custom" cooler...a perfectly decent card got ruined by the cheap cooler :p

Really? . . . did you own one then Marine-RX179? . . . I interested in what the actual problem is? . . It must be a big problem is the mere mention of "Palit" causes your hair on your body to stand on end? :D

ruined? . . . I'm looking for actual subjective information here on this card as I haven't personal owned one and the user feedback I am reading states the card is very quiet but you can hear the fan when the GPU is heaviliy loaded . . i.e when your gaming?

The user review on the Palit GeForce GTX 460 768MB product page from an ocUk Don states the following?

"Bought 2 of these Palit cards when the price dropped, and have got to say they perform brilliantly in SLi - they top even the GTX 480 when performing at their best. Would def recommend these babies 8)" - JediFragger

Maybe JediFragger is deaf or somehow deluded into writting a glowing review when according to you he has two "ruined" cards?

Palit GeForce GTX 460 768MB

£122.19

Hey Tonytank :)

I think ill go with the 1gb cyclone model.

Obviously you have to buy things that you want but can I ask what is the reason for spending £50 odd extra on a card that according to performance data is not offering you anything extra that you will notice?

While I'm waiting for some useful feedback on what the situation actually is on these Palit cards and their cooler can you explain to me why you would spend an extra £48 on this

MSI GeForce GTX 460 Cyclone 1024MB

£177.99

when you could save £48 pounds and buy this?

Asus GeForce GTX 460 Direct CU TOP 768MB

£129.99 inc

I play at 1920 by 1200.
Are you just burning nearly £50 extra for any particular reason? . . . if so can you explain to me what it is because I don't see how the premium is worth paying for a handful of FPS which you won't notice during gaming?
