Back in the UK
Ok at the end of the month I finish up in Korea for now (probally back here around March next year though) and im head back to the UK via Indonesia.

I will be staying the first few days in Chilegon followed by a few days in Jakarta but once my girlfriends visa is sorted out then im going to have a week or so left before our flight back to the UK.

Now until i started looking online i didnt realise just quiet how huge Indonesia is (it doesnt look that big on the map as they say but from end to end its as wide as the USA) so hopping around isnt quiet as practical as i thought.

So what to do? anyone got any suggestions for must see things? Anyone been before? if im going to leave Java wheres best to head? Bali? Samatra? Wheres best to stay?

I welcome anyones advice as while my GF is indonesian she hasnt lived there for over 6 years and never really travelled there before she moved to Korea.

I've only been to Bali and nowhere else yet -wasn't that impressed to be honest compared to other beaches etc. I've seen in Asia, and a bit too touristy for my liking - far too many Australians :p

Maybe not very helpful, but I'm sure Indonesia has a lot nicer , less touristy areas to visit - at least language won't be a problem for you as I assume your GF speaks Bahasa Indonesia , english isn't that widely spoken!

Looking online that deffo seems the case and it reeks of tourist trap tbh but I was wondering if anyone was going to suggest it.

Yeah she speaks Bahasa, Korean and English very well plus enough Manadarin to struggle by, not bad for someone who claims she's "not clever because I never went to university like you".

I think Bali wouldn't seem that bad if its your first time to that part of the world, but for me it seemed far too touristy - I'd prefer to visit other parts of Indoesia, planning to go myself sometime as well but want to improve my Malaysian first (very similar to Indonesian at least!)

I may be a bit biased about Bali, after I had a bad experience with the ATMs/Police there :p
