Alternate words

is there a website, or perhaps a downloadable program that will give you alternate words with the same meaning as a word of your choosing?

heh i guess i want to expand my vocabulary a little bit. it's not bad, but i'm doing a lot of writing lately and i find myself using the same words again and again to express myself and i'd like to broaden things a little i reckon.

You mean a thesaurus?

Alternatively, if you're using MS Word, you can even right-click the word in question and get suitable synonyms!
