Just having a look on the Orange Account app on my Desire, and it states that my account balance is £28.18.

I had a quick google and apparently it's what you're due to pay at the end of the month?

If that's right, then I'm not sure why I'm being charged an extra £3 on top of my £25 plan.

This is my first contract so I'm not really sure.

Anyone know? :)

It could be charges for additional days to your allotted contract month, if it is a new contract. For instance if your contract runs from 15th - 15th and you receive your handset on the 12th and start using it, the first bill will have an addition for those extra 2/3 days.

I've checked online but I can't get full access to my account without having my account number, which apparently comes on my first bill.

I received my phone on Monday 4th Oct, and apparently my next bill date is 3rd Nov.

Have you called an 0845/0870 number or similar?

Not that I know of..

But if ichabod crane is right, then It makes sense as I used my phone on the 4th and 5th of October, but I don't think my contract had started til the 6th if my next bill is due on the 3rd of Nov. That's 4 weeks.

I had this on my first Orange bill. It was 2 things:

1) A charge for bringing the contract in line with their billing cycle i.e. x days at £0.x so you are not in arrears which is normal for any mobile company.

2) Itemised billing and with this, you can phone them up, say you didn't ask for it and they should remove it and will cancel the charge.

Hope this helps.

Have you got text message delivery reports on?

If so, Orange charge for those. Caught me out on my first bill back with them.
