After spitting blood that it cost me £70 to tax my motorbike, I came to the 2nd reminder I received in the same envelope for my 2004 Octavia TDI. The rate for this has dropped to £110 for a year! It was £115 2 years ago and £120 last year.

Result!

Looking at the rates here: -

I presume either the car has been reclassified to the next band down, or the boundaries have been altered.

That tax would have gone up to compensate. So no saving :p

LOL

Indeed it has. I'm by no means expecting any sort of net saving out of this. It's just that in 11 years of taxing vehicles and having the price go up every time, I was astounded to be paying slightly less for once!

The tax for my Estima this year was half of what have been paying for years. Literally 50% cheaper. I still haven't fully fathomed why.

My tax on my old diesel Fiesta dropped as well

from a WHOPPING £35, to £30!

Result!

Ah well the OP can give me the money to help me with my £10 increase to £235!

Overlag - Is that £200 to tax the ST?

This time of year does make me consider getting something cheaper to run!

All happening in the next 5 weeks or so....

Road Tax: £235
2 new tyres: ~£180-£200
MOT & Service: ~£130

:(

That lot would equal a years tax & insurance on a nice little sportsbike.
