Asus Crosshair 4??? Help!

Hello Andy :)

I have had my intelligence insulted within 10 posts
the derogatory comment

I think the problem is your insulting yourself, I'm not the one who is calling you a shallow person with a little mind!

my little mind is like a childs at blackpool lights, it needs something thats asthetically pleasing!

Its difficult to decide because ime attracted to the crosshair and heart is ruling over the brain at the moment lol ime even contemplating getting the g.skill ram instead of the Viper x even though it costs more and the latency isnt as good just because I think the colour scheme would work!... so shallow!

If you want actual technical information or advice on how to put together a great machine you come to the right place . . . but if you want to just discuss matters of your personal aesthetics, how your heart rules you purchasing decisions over your brain and try to make it into a "debate" where you think your actually being "analytical" then I am entitled to point out that perhaps this is all a bit self-indulgent! ;)

I'm actually here to help you but I can't do that if your not using your brains!

You have a point there, I insulted MYSELF. You have no right to join in because you simply do not know me. The initial argument was discussing whether a motherboards tools are worth the money? Another thing that could sway the decision is the look of it and I, and am sure many others, think its quite significant so i chose to discuss it. What is the harm in that?

Look Wayne I am a youngish (compared to some) enthusiastic gamer who wants a powerful, good looking rig. I thought I came to the right place to discuss this. Quite clearly not because I get some AMD fanboy quelling my right of an opinion. You dont represent what everybody thinks on this forum so dont come in my thread waving your big self about. If you do not agree with what I have to say you dont have to put together a response like that now do you.

Responses like that belong on youtube or something, from what ive seen so far of other memebers it doesnt belong here. Fair enough your techy minded and you cant help when I am swaying to something "pretty" but you are interested in photography arent you? so surely you can understand the "beauty" of something even if our definition of it doesnt agree.

If i was getting the crosshair, i would get the 1055T your going to end up with a 4ghz overclock any how.

As for the GFX cards its up to you really the 5870 is a good card, the new 6870 is "rumoured" to be a cheaper part that out performs it, if you are going for a bells and whistles motherboard i assume you are going to crossfire at some point...so it might be worth getting one of the 6 series and crossfireing later.

As for buying for the beauty mmmmm....ive bought components because they would match a colour scheme before but not at detriment to the overall build.

If one day needed I could be able to squeeze a bit more out of the 1090T so ile prob go with that. Good point though because you are saving a bit. Have you tried to get any more out of your 1090T? I imagine with your water cooling you could get a bit.

I heard that too about the 6 series. If something is released regarding them cards within the next month then I will try my best to hang on but I want or should I say need this build by November really.

I dont think I would bottleneck my potential system getting a shoddy piece of hardware just because it looks good, it has to have the overall package really.

Isnt the 1055t and the 1090t the same but for the Unlocked Multiplier? so there for if the 1055t can hit 4Ghz the 1090t will max out at around the same so if you buy a 1090t you be paying £65 more for the same cpu !!!

IMHO i would get the 1055t it clocks just the same as the 1090t.

my 1055t is clocked at 4.0 ghz but can go 4.2 ghz with the crosshair4..

ahh very good point guys! Thanks very much I will now do that. Sorry sayso I didnt know it was so difficult to get to the extra multipliers in the 1090T to make it worth while. Very good advice and I now will be getting the 1055.

no problems mate, there are 2 ways of overclocking with the multiplier (only Black edition AMD and extreme Intel CPUs let you do this) or using the mother board to raise a the block frequency, with a decent board like the crosshair you should be able to get the 270ish block you need to raise the 1055T or the low power version to 4 Ghz.

The reason i got a 1090T is that i use an Matx Board (for £60) that struggles to get over 230Blk, if there had been a Matx version of the Crosshair i would have got it.

The reason i use water-cooling is that my case is a SSF case that gets very hot at high clock speeds also i had some bits lying about after selling my old monster PC.

g0cem

i have been using this board for 5 weeks now with the 1090t cpu it is so easy and effortless to overclock in the bios i got it to 4.112ghz qute easy
it also comes with turbov evo software which will overclock it to 3.9 by the click of a button and it adjusts the ram and vcore at the same time i think its a really good board temps dont go above 52c idles at 26c i know i can get this board to go to 4.4ghz which i will be trying in the next few days
