Wi-Fi Protected Setup?

What exactly is this?
Been looking around Google trying to get a simple answer.

I see the option on my D-LINK router but have disabled it for moment.

Is this replacement for WPA security or can they both be enabled at the same time? If so would windows simply ask for the PIN number then the WPA key?

No it is not a replacement for WPA security. Basically it provides a means for technically challenged people to setup a secure WPA protected network using things like a PIN or USB stick.

Wi-Fi Protected Setup is used to easily add devices to a network using a PIN or button press. Devices must support Wi-Fi Protected Setup in order to be configured by this method.

Go the manual route and configure the security yourself.
