Also, updated 0.6x/0.7 patch notes:

- New tech tree - American tanks. 21 researchable tanks + 4 premium tanks. US tank crews added.
- From 2 to 4 new maps, including "Cliff" and "Komarin".
- Removed "teleports" of tanks at great distances when aiming at them.
- Introduced advanced graphic settings.
- Now for the first battle of the day (24h) player will receive double experience.
- Reworked interface of the platoon creation.
- Adjusted speed of burning of all tanks during the fire. Now the tank will burn at about 5% of durability per second.
- Multiple fixes and adjustment to match-making system.
- Team mode added. Form a team of 15 and face the opposing one in battle.Probability of appearance - high.
- Clan mode. Alpha test version with some basic features available. Probability of appearance - medium.
- Fixed several places where tank can get stuck on the maps "Himmesldof", "Prokhorovka", "Lakeville", "Hills".
- Changed crash models and collisions of some objects.
- Added destruction of some objects.
- Removed dog squeals when driving over dog booth.
- Fixed collision-model of tank "Tiger I"
- Fixed awarding "Steel wall" posthumously
- Fixed repair time of tracks for some tanks.
- Redesign of screens “Barracks”, “Depot”, “Store” to match the general style.
- Fixed minors error with re-training.
- In the info window of a tank added description of the tank (so far for german and soviet vehicles only).
- Added voice announcements when crewmen are damaged.
- In the info window of a tank added description of the crew.
- Limit on display of number of medals increased from 99 to 999.
- Under button “Battle!” added description of the current battle mode.
- Fixed wrong display of percentages for wins and losses in some cases.
- Added new graphic post-effects. This feature has become possible due to new game engine version.
- Executable file renamed to WorldOfTanks.exe

Notice 2: we would like to deliver everything it one piece, but there is a chance of v.0.5.5 interim update:

- 2 new maps: Komarin and Cliff.
- Adjusted speed of burning of all tanks during the fire. Now the tank will burn at about 5% of durability per second.
- Fixed collision-model of tank "Tiger I". Significantly decreased size of turret rotation mechanism.
- Balance and vehicle tweaks:
• StuG III, VK1602, SU-76 - decreased tracks repair time.
• StuG III - added rammer.
• Grille price increased from 140400 to 147100 credits.
• BT-7 - increased traverse speed for both suspensions by 4 deg/sec. 7% accuracy increase for the 2nd suspension added.
• Fixed truck rotation on SU-14.
• SU-26 – weakened platform rotation mechanism.
• PzIV – Hummel upgrade cost increased from 34220 to 35400 experience.
• KV - S-51 upgrade cost decreased from 144730 to 127320 experience.
• VK3002DB the 2nd suspension upgrade cost decreased by 4000 experience, total VK3002DB - Panther upgrade cost increased by 4000 experience.

After finally going down the USSR/German trees I would like to offer my final opions on some top class picks.(with full upgrades)
These are based on me maxing out the tanks in the trees with top crews/upgrades, sometimes IMO the top tier tank in the tree are just not as good as the rank lower.

Light scout - Leopard/a20
Medium - T44 / 3002DB
Heavy - IS4
TD - Jagdpanther onwards, with prob a Jagdtiger been classed as a true front line TD.

SPG - S51/hummel so much fun to play :p

kinda sad that aslong as you go russian you will be fine..

all the german tanks are **** compared to the russian ones, its so obvious the devs are biased i bet all the american tanks will be **** to

idd, the game is just more fun going down the Russian tree, i felt the German tree was painful and not even close in terms of how the std panther to T44 compares for an example.

Balancing hasn't stopped yet, the patch we're getting next week has some balancing to various tanks including the tigers. A week or two after that we get the big patch that will no doubt have more, another tier is being added to existing ones also.

I'm not saying everything will be perfect as no doubt there will still be a lot of issues but it still has some way to go before release. I just hope that the US tanks don't introduce even more imbalance :P
 
its not just the tigers pretty much every german tank is crap compared to the russian ones and has been since the game was in closed beta..
people used to ask me why i play russian tanks with a name like "panzercommander" they stopped asking along time ago
 
That's not entirely true, i can think of a number of great tanks on the German side. Leopard, Tiger II, VK3601, VK3002(DB), JgdTiger, PzIII & IV are great for their tiers, Maus although it isn't a random group play tank.

I do prefer the USSR ones overall also but those are some that ive played and loved. There are some crappy ones that need work like the Panther, Hummel when compared to the S-51, most of the TD's, VK3001(p), Tiger I (it's not too bad upgraded but the IS is better).

Edit - Just a random thought, weight reduction on a number of the German ones would go a long way to making the trees more on par. Manoeverability Vs armour works out well on tanks like the Maus when it's played in groups but some of them are just to cumbersome compared to their counterparts on the USSR side without gaining enough in armour or damage.

The big advantage Russian tanks have over almost all German tanks is how good they are at stock. Every German tank, from every tree I have tried has been utter crap with no upgrades. It becomes a nightmare to play. By the time it starts to shine you are probably almost ready to go to the next tier!

The Russian tanks all start out great and just get even better as you upgrade them.

The other problem is most German tanks rely on sniping/long range combat. You can't really do that at the moment due to warping. This is being fixed very soon, but I am not sure it will make that much of a difference.

The Germans do have a good advantage with the Tank Destroyers though. They generally outmatch the Russian counterpart, but again they usually need upgrading a bit first!

For some reason they felt it necessary to have a dog squeal if you ran over a kennel. These fights take place on various maps with houses etc. You hear chickens scattering [and probably splattering] when you crash through a chicken house too!

Aye it was just a little jokey thing, but apparently some animal lovers couldn't see the funny side and the devs couldn't be arsed with the hassle so just removed it.



As for the whole russian better than german thing, thats only true for the heavies. Even though my IS3 is hating KTs for some reason, though when using my IS I'd prefer fighting against a KT instead of an IS3.
Mediums I'd rather take my Panther (or even the DB) against a t44 any day, but there are those who love the T44. (though one thing why does the Panther cost more to repair than an IS3 :confused:)
TDs seem pretty balanced throughout the tiers depending on what you want, speed, armour, size, damage etc. Maybe more towards the germans at the higher tiers for the general user, though I'm really liking the Russian ones from the SU85B to SU-152 so far.
Light tanks I've not used them enough but A20/Leo seem about right maybe slightly more in the Leo's favour.
And arty, meh, I've only used the Wespe and the Grille but against them aside from the tier imbalance they seem fairly even.

SiriusB may have a point with the stock thing, though I've not looked at it enough to make judgement.

I am going up through the German and Russian Heavy trees - I have direct comparisons and almost every time the Russian counterpart has been much better at stock. The German trees also feel like they take longer to grind through too. That might be in my head though as when you don't enjoy a tank you avoid playing it as much lol.
 
my highest german tank is a VK45 with elite status on the research tree, only thing stopping me from owning a maus is the cost.

my VK45 is nowhere near as good as any is4 ive came up against , they never seem to ding or anything (i think Vk45 weak point is the turret lol ....)

where as when im fighting an is4 or is7 i have to aim for a tiny weak spot and they have a much more powerful gun .... aswell as beeing faster.

im not sure if they have less armor thickness or not but even if they dont the low profile and sloped armor makes up for it.

ive seen maus 1v1 against is7 and they took a big beating.

almost impossible to break even aswell in a VK45 with premium because your likely to always come up against IS4 +

Yup IS4 is a beast fully upgraded with the liner, rammer etc.
Its got more armor then the IS7 too, and IMO its the better tank anyway.
1on1 is4 will kill and IS7 if the drivers have the same skill level.
 
I plan to stop the German line at probably the Tiger II. I love the look of them so it's probably worth it just for that. Though the game will probably be released before I manage it! :p

On the Russian side I will stop at IS-4. Again assuming I don't run out of time!

Slowly working towards a Hummel and StuGIII too!
 
Had a great battle during lunch with my KV-3 today! Got a lucky shot on a Tiger II and blew his ammo :D

Im in a panzer III at the mo well actually just got it other day. Cost a canny bit too 180k. Got a couple of upgrades so far but not turret or guns yet, well one gun but from diff upgrade i think from diff tank panzer 3 ausf i think it was.

Its better than the ausf but not by much.

I used to dispise the game cos of arty tho far too easy with that overhead view and one shot kills it kinda kills playing it. Tho i figured id have a go at being arty for once and it was fun but i personally feel it kills the idea of playing a tanks game sometimes.

Anyone got any tips to combat the really bad lag us ukers have with this game? Im trying to use manual aiming but i dont think im ever hitting the enemy as i aim for the tracks i shoot a good 3 rounds at it but it still moves and with a ping of 135 im probably never hitting it which pizzes me off no end so generally i have to auto aim to get anything decent kills wise. So if anyones got tips let me know.
 
Yeah, its great. Just got my T34-85, and am 15k exp away from a KV-3. Also got the Russian SPG maxed (S-51), so don't play that too much, and am 41k exp away from unlocking the JagdPanther, which was rather depressing, so I'm not really playing TD at the moment. Oh well, I'll miss it soon :3
