Hi,

Might be heading there for work soon :( (Only for a couple of weeks I hope!)

What's it like? (Hot, Dry, like UAE I imagine). Anything to do at all?

Cheers

It's very hot. Where as england gets 'clammy' the desert just gets very hot and dry, it's hard to explain unless you have experienced it before. Oh I hope you like public executions

I currently live here, it depends on where you are going to be living though, you are probably either going to be near Riyadh (hot and dry) or the coast probably Jeddah (hot and humid :( ). To be honest its not too bad as long as you go in with an open mind about things, you can have fun, you just need to find the right people as you will find out, out here its all about the connections, if you don't have them you have nothing.

I work with quite a few people who have spent a lot of time there. Its one of those places where you have to make your own fun, because theres literally nothing to do. Unless youre near the Bahrain border. Its like jail in the sense you need to be well connected to ensure you have a good time, meeting people who have alcohol or home brew.
If youre only there for 2 weeks I wouldnt worry much at all.

I lived in Jeddah from the age of 1 to 6. I remember cooking eggs on the car bonnet it was so hot. Also when it rains is really goes for it! We lived in a neighbourhood with other overseas workers. Interesting place.

i spent a summer there working a few years back was alright just as above has said its a bit boring. Lots of nice cars there though
