They're looking to start giving out paper ones rather than a card fairly soon (as a little incidental point).

Hope that helps.

They spell your name wrong on purpose so that you have to go back and pay more money. You would that it would be included in the tax package. But no it costs extra.

Think you need to change your tinfoil hat.

Any mistakes on spelling are purely that, mistakes.

I don't think I have ever even had one so I wouldn't worry about it

get the driving licence done though

It happens far too much, i know they are government workers but they can't be that stupid. All they are doing is copying what is on the paper. Well they probably don't speak english.

Hello Daily Mail.

I'd suggest its far more likely that based on the quantity of cards they have to make in their job mistakes are bound to happen.

I lost mine with a week of getting it, 20 years later, I am still managing quite fine without it.

Do you need it?

All you need is the number along the front. The card is immaterial. Get both your name changed on drivers license and NI card. Otherwise it could cause problems in the future.

My NI info has '1984' on it instead of '1989'. I guess someone read the 9 as a 4. Took me ages to get sorted so I wouldn't bother unless you need it :p

I would get the drivers license changed though.

Likewise, except I've only been going 10 years or so without it. No one has ever wanted to see the card.

Just remember the number or write it down somewhere else.
