The Phone Shop -

Saw the pilot last year which was pretty funny, saw the first episode on 4od today was quite awful tbh! Made me a laugh a couple of times but I'll see how this develops.
 
It made me laugh just because the tall man is exactly like a network guy at my work. And why are they all so ghetto? Some of it dragged on though and it was over the top sometimes, at least its a bit different.
 
I struggled to laugth until the second half when I found myself chuckling a bit! Its ok but im not sure if it will last or not.

The inbetweeners is so much better than this tho lol! The most recent episode is just a pure gross out of sex situations, but maybe thats its downfall, just like the school of comedy. Watching a bunch of kids swear a lot gets a bit boring after a while.
 
i knew this was most probably going to be english crap but i was amazed at just how bad this is. i mean honestly such a terrible terrible terrible program. i feel more stupidier from watching it now.
 
The script to this could actually be pretty good but the sit-com style of the direction and overplayed acting let's it down badly.
Re-shot with static cameras, some extras in the shop and more naturalistic performances I think it could be really funny.
 
Few smirks but it's too OTT to be another office, but not funny enough to be a laugh out loud out and out comedy.
 
I watched the first episode last night on E4 - how horrendous was this? I think I smirked once or twice in the whole 30 mins. What was with the black dude and his the other guy speaking like they're both from the ghetto?

Just bizarre really. How people can say this is better than The Inbetweeners is just beyond me :confused:
 
I must be one of the few people who actually like it then. Not usually my type of thing, but even from the trailer, I knew I wanted to watch it. Ridicules phone salesmen, over the top, bit cheesy...

On E4+1 now too.
 
It's not as good as the inbetweeners (which is quite variable tbh) but I quite like it and have enjoyed it so far. I am a bit bemused by the comments about the overacting and the 2 guys from da ghetto?! That's sort of the whole point surely? It's hammy cheese and overdone but it's meant to be. The white guy is more black than the black dude!

Precisely - that's the entire point of the show, stereotyping certain type of salesmen with the ridiculous ghetto patois, looks like some people certainly don't get it.

Although the first episode was weak, I thought it really got into its stride this week. The scene in the gents was superb, loved the breakdown of how to treat a woman on a date based on where the work, with 'highstreet' not covering Waterstones, Citizen's Advice Bureau, Christian Shop, Millets (for some reason) and 50% of Habitat. :)

Has a nice surreal element to it as well, with the hero worship of little Gary.

This series of the Inbetweeners has been poor, they seem to have run out of ideas and just added more 'clunge' and 'gash' comments, which will only entertain the more boorish elements of their viewing base.
 
i thought the contrary
inbetwetweeners is going through one of its best seasons
its soooo funny
they sort of bring about the laughter that i went through watching the american pie series

the phoneshop......well....its aiite
and as some of you said, its supposed to be over the top rubbish - good rubbish mind you!
a decent watch for 20 mins when youve not got much else to watch or do
