Well, I suppose the Labour party can add the one of the most absurd potential cabinets it's had in a long time, to the most ridiculous leader it's had in about eighteen years.

Its not like they are going to get back in any time soon though.

Probably a daft question but what is a shadow cabinet? It sounds like some form of shady organisation hell bent on world domination.

I wish, that sounds so much more interesting than the more prosaic reality. Effectively they're the people who the opposition have determined should match up to the cabinet, as it were in a face off or mano a mano style but usually without the fisticuffs - although I often think that a lot of the problems with British politics could be solved by locking the lot of them in a room with a few dozen half bricks and telling them that the team that escapes with the most people left is the winner (idea c/o BOFH).

Can't say there's anything much in that Cabinet to make me instantly stand up and take notice but let's see what they do when they've actually had a chance to prepare themselves a little.

Alan Johnson as shadow chancellor - what a joke. I am guessing his financial and economical skills are as good as his love for some basic civil rights during his previous post. Red-Ed claims he is not in the pockets of the unions; Diana Holland - Party Treasurer, Alan Johnson aka 'Mr Union' - Shadow Chancellor and Ed himself who the unions love so much. New generation Labour? Please....!

Labour's new Legion of Doom, sans nepotism.

I'm still in gleeful disbelief Ed was even selected to be the leader. He's dreadful in any form of debate/confrontation, PMQs is going to be a weekly dressing down for him rather than Cameron...

HARRIET HARMAN - DEPUTY LEADER AND SHADOW INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT SECRETARY

if this is code for "Poorly defended and frequently unguarded ambassador to Afghanistan." I'm all for it!
