Installing new door speakers in my Impreza.

Well my new speaker adapters for my Impreza bugeye arrived after having my new front door speakers in my house for almost a week now.

I decided to fit them today, as I have had to wait as it was getting dark by the time I got home from work.

Anyway, these are my new speakers

Infinifty 6525s

Drivers side!

I took off the door panel, and noticed the speaker fitted wasn't the original OEM speaker from Subaru. It was this.

Anyway I removed the speaker and fitted my new wooden adapter and then fitted the speaker. JOB DONE!

Then the passenger side.....

I removed the door panel to find the original OEM speaker.... why! why! did the previous owner replace the drivers speaker but not the passenger side!

Anyway I removed the OEM speaker to find this....

No spade connector! Any idea what I need to get to fit my new speaker in the passenger side?

Hi. Try putting 'impreza speaker wiring adaptor' or something similar into eBay and see what you get.

Perhaps a spade connector?

just cut the wires and solder them onto the speaker connectors

Seems odd to put coaxials that low down, don't you have a tweeter elsewhere on the door? You can get connector adaptors from Autoleads, handy if you don't want to butcher the wiring yourself.

I wondered if anyone knew of any adapter where I dont need to cut the wiring, as the wiring is also very tight, any chopping will result in shortened cables

nah not for an OEM speaker plug, if its stupidly short just get a block connector and extend the wiring, won't make any difference to the sound

Cut the connectors off, solder on spade connectors and Robert's your father's brother.

Just use a small connector block or solder some extra wire on, you dont want to be waiting for a harness to arrive, wheres the fun in that!

That connector is past it anyway, just chop it off. I've never seen spade connectors soldered on either, they are crimped on :confused:

My logic was that the average man is more likely to have a soldering iron than a crimper (I've got both, but meh).

Having said that, this is a computer forum so people probably have one for ethernet cables.... in which case yeah crimp it.
