Any advice/ideas would be much appreciated.

For most of my "career" I have been office bound. I work in Financial Services {not a banker :)}. It pays relatively well and the benefits are very good.

However I'm bored and promised to myself when I started my current job that this would be the last office job I do. I like the idea of working for myself, being able to set my own hours and being able to be in control of of what I do.

Knowing what I know now I probably would have forsaken university for a proper trade. Fortunately I am not too old so still have time to change.

I have always fancied myself as a bit of a diy electrician and believe this is potentially something I could be interested in. There are lots of courses available but which is the best one? What kind of qualification would I need to be able to either get a job working as an electrician or even better to be able to become a man with a van and set out on my own? Also is there any money in it:)
