Hi, right, I have a bit of a problem with my tyre pressures. I have Bridgestone Potenza RE050A all round and the recommended tyre pressure (on the door and in the manual) is 36 (f) 41 (r) unladen and 45 (f) 49 (r) fully laden.

Now the problem is that on the tyre itself, it says never exceed 40psi. I am confused, what pressures should I be running?

I just set mine in the middle to 37psi and when the red tyre indicator appears, it's time to top em up
Michelin Pilot Sport 2

edit: not helpful I know :(

Fox, with you being the fountain of all knowledge regarding BMW's (;)) i was wondering if you knew what this was about?

I've just looked it says something like "never exceed 40psi (260kPa) *something* seat beads".

Surely you must have this problem on your 530?

EDIT: I think something has clicked. I've just found out that the "bead" is an area of a tyre and "seating a bead" is for when the tyre is being mounted to the rim and when they first pump it up and it pops a few times (i think that's the beads being seated) and i think that message is for the fitter (ie. "if you don't hear the tyre beads seating, don't keep pumping it up past 40psi otherwise it'll explode, instead, reseat it and try again.")
