CPU not running at correct GHz?

Hi all,

I hope this is the right place to post this, forgive me if it isn't!

I recently purchased a Titan Onyx system from Overclockers (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-025-OP)
(Processor: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz Overclocked to 4.00GHz)

I don't know much about computers :( but have downloaded CPU-Z and it gives me the following information.

Am I missing something or is it not running at the correct GHz? Is there anything I need to do?

Just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of my system!

Speedstep will be enabled in the BIOS. This is a power saving feature of Intel. The Clockspeed will increase to its maximum 4ghz when required i.e when the cpu is put under load conditions (gaming/encoding).

There is nothing wrong with your PC.
 
your missing something ! :P The multiplier shown is with SpeedStep in full swing. It down clocks the multiplier of the base clock to lower the power usage when ur doing squat on your PC,

Your multi in that photo is x12, run Prime95 for 5 mins while reading cpuz , i bet you'll see x21, as 190Mhz by 21 is bang on 4Ghz, your overclock is safe,

Hmmm... have you got the wrong CPU?

You say you bought a i7 950, yet your CPU-Z shows you have an i7 930... ?!

Not that it makes a massive difference, but it's something I'd be getting in touch with them about if I were you!

I noticed that too, they prob wont swap it , nor should you ask , it does the job , But ask for a credit note for the Difference in price for the cpu standalone, if they wont budge then force em to replace it !! < CPU-Z is not wrong, they put a 930 in your system, Not asking them to replace it is a courtesy since it hits 4 Ghz, but it aint the 950 they advertised.
 
If I bought a bundle that was supposed to come with an i7 950 and they sent me a 930 instead, I would most definitely be sending the chip back to get the 950!!!
 
There is about a tenner in in the difference in the retail value of the chip, ask for a 10 pound credit note, because, you're bound to use it eventually. :)
