Since Resident Evil was originally shot in 2D I would imagine this is definitely the case but as far as I'm aware there was only a 3D cinema release.
Actually this film was shot in 3D (According to the link posted below, this is the first movie to be shot in 3D since 2010 apart from Step-Up 3D), and most of the scenes (pretty much most of the film

) were made for the 3D part of it, hence it looking kind of futuristic in some scenes e.g. the white rooms, the characters wearing dark/black clothes and all the scenes where something is thrown towards you or bullets being fired towards you, explosions, the zombies etc.

That might help people make there mind up if they are going to see it in 3D
Personally I think it is the best film for just the 3D aspect of it that has been released so far (also loved the film as well

, especially Milla

, it was worth seeing it just for her

), according to that review as well, it is suppose to be even better than Avatar in 3D (I haven't seen it in 3D, but most of my friends and that review state that resident evil is better than it for the 3D part of it, because Avatar was pretty much all CGI so it wouldn't look as good etc.)
Although if you suffer from headaches from seeing 3D films, then it might not be a good idea
EDIT: I don't seem to get any headaches at all from the 3D, but for the first 15 minutes, my eyes feel quite soar and feel like they dry up a lot

, but after that, they feel great again, so might just be my eyes adjusting to the effects of 3D probably
