Althought it might not be clear from the photo below, my Artic Cooling fan lead won't reach over the top of the gfx to slot into the 4 pin plug.

Is there any extension cables out there i can buy for this adapter?

I am thinking i need the following: 4 Pin PWM Fan Extension Cable

any advice?

What motherboard are you using, I though there would be one very close to the cpu socket.

If I think it's the one your using the port should be just behind the cpu closet to the I/O panel.

It's the OCUK bundle
Argon Extreme Intel Core i3 2.93GHz @ 4.20GHz Overclocked Bundle
Motherboard
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard

the cpu fan needs to be rotated 180 degrees so that the power cable protrudes facing down and towards the graphics card, then just route the cable under it where the pci express slot ends at the I.O shield end (assuming you are pointing at the correct header )

To be fair, the fan plugs location on a unfamiliar motherboard can be a b1tch to locate (especially when you don't know how many there are). I usually use the manual to identify where all of them are in case I miss 1 or 2 of them :p
