Hey guys, just wondering if anyone had any advice regarding stereos and adapters, not looking to spend a huge amount, just something good but not ott to add some iPod functionality to my 2004 Civic, have then issue of the oem Honda head unit being strangely curved around the edges so I'm assuming i would need some sort of figment adore too?

Ideally looking for a silver hu and fitment converter, any ideas and help would be appreciated,

Cheers

Just fitted an aftermarket HU to my CTR last week, youll need one of these

Some people dont use a facia adapter but imo if you want to maintane an oem look its a must have.

Cant really recomend a silver HU though, i went for a Pioneer 4200SD, although just figured out it doesnt have a clock, and as my car is lacking a dash clock its a bit annoying!!

I hate the cheapo adapters. Much prefer mine without in my ctr. But the Alpine X305 fits it nicely anyway.

If you just want to connect your iPod then have you thought about one of these - Connects2 adaptor

I have one in my CTR, just plugs into the cd changer socket on the back of the oem headunit and the sound quality is great.

Dale, that actually looks perfect mate, is it easy to get the OEM stereo out or a bit of a ballache? I guess I could run the cable down and into the storage compartment infront of the handbrake to loop up to my nano/iphone :D

Would be perfect come to think of it! :D

Removing the oem headunit isnt as easy as on some cars but its not hugely difficult...

Download these instructions, i used them - very good! Obviously ignore the first 10 pages or so, think the head unit removal is pages 13 onwards

One thing, if you cant get the gear nob off, just leave it on and twist the lower surround out of the way, prolly doesnt make sense now but youll see what i mean.

The oem headunit, as said, is a little bit of a pain to get out but if you follow the online guides its not too bad. I've got mine running into the glovebox for the time being but thinking of fitting a proper jack socket into the dash somewhere. Running it down to the storage compartment shouldnt be too much hassle. I've been looking into that aswell, along with fitting an extra cigarette lighter socket in there so I dont have cables running all over the place, just cant be arsed to do either atm :o
