sub £10k car

that actually is something like what im looking for MrLOL
/thread
think i mgiht get something like that for the next year or so and get something newer (or more sporty) in a year or so

thanks muchly guys :)

advice taken.
fox has the right idea, just looking for a decent car thats semi-economical
looking at a couple examples of 05 plate mondeos and vectras
leaning towards a mondeo for now with a look towards getting a new mondeo, insignia or 3 series diesel sometime in the new year
not a fan of what a lot might consider 'fun' cars such as hot hatchbacks..not sure why just a reasonable sized saloon has always appealed more to me
might have something to do that i always drive ford focus and bmw 5 series estates for work,
previous cars have been vauxhall astra and fabia estate

Getting something now with the intention of upgrading in the new year...... Eg in 3 months time?

Fwiw, most mondeos, vectras and insignias are hatchbacks, not saloons

I'd have the Mondeo over the S40 - as said the petrol volvos all have shocking fuel economy for what they are. At least with my shocking economy i have a 260bhp turbo. So that would be out for me.

Insignia is still too new, and to get one with all the toys 10k isnt really enough yet. Doesnt offer enough over the old shape mondeo above. 10k is bottom of the barrel insignia money which isnt a place you want to be.

Mondeo > focus every time, and the lancer is a car that sells because some people like the fact it looks a bit like an evo...

No need to spend 10k if you just want a nice semi-economical practical car.

Granted this is a diesel, which may or may not be what you want, but petrols will be cheaper than diesels anyway so the point about what you can get for this money still stands

Job done.

Hillingdon aint a bad lot to buy from either, iv had a couple off them.

Why so cheap?
The latest model and only 3 years old:confused:.

it ain't that cheap, it's just a good price.
on the other hand, the mondeo posted earlier is overpriced, sorry but you can get a 55 reg mondeo for half of that. Sure, it won't be a GHIA X or in a fantastic condition, but when you can look at a few decent ones under 3k, 5k is a stupid price to pay, considering all the ex-fleet depreciation.

Just depends how old you want to go. If you want to spend 3k.

But its 3 years older. All comes down to what the OP wants.

So what you are saying is that the car is overpriced because for less money you can get a lower spec one thats tatty?

Good logic there! Why would anyone want a car that isnt in good condition?

Yea i didnt quite grasp that concept either.

You can get one with a back end whack for 1400 quid if you follow that logic to the end.

been looking at this, what do you guys think?

theres also a 1.8 petrol listed for about a grand more

Whilst the 1.8 sounds more appealing, it's not really worth it.

I got the 1.8 over the 1.6 and kinda wish i didnt really. Not a great deal in difference between them 0-60 but the 1.8 has a bit more poke once you get to 70-80 which makes it better for motorway driving.

MPG wise, general driving / town driving you will get 35mpg, 37 if you really try hard. Motorway you should manage 40mpg.

How about a Honda Accord 2.0 Sport, they look great, have a 2.0 150BHP petrol engine and loads of kit. Interior is great too, personally think its much nicer option than the Mundano, much better looking

Well atleast you wouldn't be buying it new!

Why spend so much on a 1.6 focus just to keep you going for only a short while though?

The problem is though that you dont buy any of these cars for looks, you buy them for how they drive, equipment levels, value for money etc etc. An area where the Mondeo shines.
