So I managed to stand on a nail whilst dismantling our old shed, and it went straight through. My other half is a bit of a panicky person, so took me to A&E . Anyway whilst I'm sure they were annoyed that I'd wasted a nurses time, they did actually examine the wound and then say I would need a tetanus shot...

..which of course I had last Thursday in preparation for my holiday.

tldr:
Stood on nail, hole in foot, needed tetanus jab, recently had, how cool am I.

Nothing like a good rusty nail story. It would have been something if it had still been stuck in your foot when you went to hospital. :p

Once I stepped on a troll and its nose pierced my foot.

It did hurt quite a bit so I can imagine what a nail felt like!

Stepping on a drawing pin hurts enough, can't imagine what standing on a nail would feel like. Also going to A&E was the right decision.

Nicely done OP, managed to get me to breathe through my teeth in a Peter Griffin style fashion indicating some empathy for your pain!

Reminded me of the time that my Mrs stood on an upturned plug that was on the floor, it gouged a hole in her foot and bled profusely. Not nice!

I stood on a nail a couple of years ago, and it went all the way through my foot. I didn't scream and cry like a baby, honest. It was HORRIBLE!

Whenever I do this sort of thing I always wear riggers or steel toecap boots, most of them have a steel plate in the sole to stop this.

Did it go right through? did you have to pull it out??

I stepped on a huge nail whilst trying to squash the crap down into a skip, thankfully it only went through my shoe

Did it go right through? did you have to pull it out??

It went through my boots, through the ball of my foot, and out the top directly above. It came straight back out when I lifted my foot, in rather a lot of pain.

It's not often you hear the words "stepped on a nail" and "stroke of luck" but well done on the PMA, Kriss Akabusi would be proud of you.
The stroke of luck was already having had my tetanus jab ;).

I can one-up that!

I once backed onto a rusty nail protruding from side of someone's garage as I leant against the wall. Didn't particularly notice until I "shifted" and felt pretty much pinned to the spot.

Immediately jumped forward, stuck my hand round and my finger almost went IN. Blood all over the place - and literally about an inch and a half from the spine.

I have a little mark on the top of my foot from when I stepped on a nail and it went clean in the bottom and out of the top :D

I was quite young at the time and my mum freaked out, big chunk of flesh came off when they took the nail out as well :(
