Looking to upgrade soon as my USB ports are on there way out and it's shorting out too much.

Havn't really followed hardware since i purchased this current PC - which don't get me wrong still gets things done quick and well, but it's time to upgrade.

Back when i bought these components, i could overclock nicely and compete with higher end stuff.

Gigabyte DS3 (Flawless mobo, great OCing)
E6300 (Been at a steady 3.2ghz since it came out with a ACF7)
OCZ PC8500 (This was an upgrade from geil pc6400 which is was poor)

Graphics card is only a 9800GT but it does me fine.

Starting to use AutoDesk products now, so want somthing thats going to much through that with ease.

Looking to spend between £300 - £400 just on CPU/Mobo and RAM really, everything else i got does me fine.

Any ideas/help me play catch up! :)

An i5 seems appealing for the money.

How are AMD doing these days? When it was all C2D/AM2, intel were miles ahead - have AMD cought up now or is it still the same story?

Might upset a few people, but unless you want a cheap quad or hex core, Intel are still way ahead.
