Hey all,

Moving house soon and I have decided to get a projector setup, but I have a few questions, firstly I am thinking of getting an Optoma HD200X Projector and Onkyo TXSR308 AV Receiver, is this a good choice?

Then onto specific questions, will the projector be ok for a small room, with aprox 2.5M from where it will be mounted, to the projector screen? Also what size picture would I be looking to get at this distance?

Also with the AV Receiver, as I cant find an answer, will this upscale component connections and output them via HDMI?

Also my current receiver has wired speakers, the kind you connect the wire to and screw in, as do my speakers, do the receivers support these?

*EDIT* Right got HDMI + Composite Splitter, and relevent 10M cables on the way, 84" 16:9 Screen arived already, so just need to pick the right projector + av receiver :D

Thanks,
Jcb33.

Why have you purchased your screen before deciding on your projector? Different projectors have different throw ratios which result in different screen sizes for a given projection distance.

There are sites on line that will allow you to check the max screen size for a given projector/distance. Google projector central

84" from 2.5 m (and is that 2.5 from the end of the lens?) is a pretty big screen.

Well I had planned on an Acer short throw projector, but realised that I would be better off putting a little more money into the projector and here we are!

Am I correct on thinking the throw distance, is the distance from the projector to the screen?

In that case at 8" I can have the following H37" Diag 75" and Width 65", which if I am correct in thinking gives me a 75" screen overall? So about 10" waste on my screen.

throw distance is from the lense of the projector. So you may need to take into account the dimension of the projector itself along with any recommended clearances around the projector.

Personally I think it looks better if your image fills the projector screen rather than having white all around it, that's just going to reflect extra light back into the room and decrease the picture quality
