which HIS 5850 to go for???

I was about to check out on an HIS ATI Radeon HD 5850 iCooler V standard card (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-004-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=411) but then had a look an thought should I go for the HIS ATI Radeon HD 5850 iCooler V Turbo instead? ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-003-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=411 ) is it worth the extra £16 for the overclocking?

Buy the first one you linked to, you can always overclock it yourself.

that's what I was thinking actually. overclocking always voids the warranty eh, be it cpu or gpu?

Overclocking doesn't 'always' void the warranty but it usually does. Depends on the brand, conditions and model etc.

overclocking voiding the warranty is old nosh, set it back to default before you RMA it and they have no indicator you over clocked it ever, its not like saying oh it never got wet, a physical watermark can illustrate it did, there are no permanent traces of clock settings left on a board from any vendor, so long as you dont flash the bios with new defaults then there isnt anyway.

It might void the spirit of the warranty , but when your the consumer that doesnt matter all that much, so long as you can sleep at night, save the few pounds and OC it yourself

that's what i was thinking, what if it fails and never works again...how would I be able to clock it back and will they have a means of knowing that it was overclocked

My advice is to wait a week or two to see if the 6000 series show. You might find that the 5850 drops in price which will save you a few bob.
