Can't hear my power brick at all, as for my console it definitely is 'whisper quiet' if the op's isn't then take it back!

Can't hear my power brick at all, as for my console it definitely is 'whisper quiet' if the op's isn't then take it back!
compared to my old style 360 the new one is quiet maybe even quieter than my pc which is pretty quiet for a change
Is there anything you can do with the power brick to stop the noisy fan? Can you buy an extended cable so that I could put the power brick outside the room?
It really is noticeable if you listen out for it, the machine itself as said makes no noise at all really, but the whirling noise from the power brick is silly at times.

I noticed it when i was downloading a demo or two, i was on my macbook just general surfing there was no other noise in the house, and it is a pretty quiet house. Now that i have heard it it does sound loud. Maybe im just hearing it too much lol.
The other thing is like i said before we have a low and long tv unit and the pwer brick is sat under there maybe that is causing it to be louder than it needs to.
I was just disappointed when it stated everywhere it was whisper quiet, but that was about the console which i think is. Its the brick thats more noisy now!!!

My 4GB is super quiet, don't know what you're on about tbh
What do you class as super quiet?
My noise is coming more from the Xbox fan rather than the brick, i have had my ear by the machine and can hear the noise from there.
Hmmm does this mean its faulty?
If i was in a room with some noise i would not hear it..

Got one of the Reach consoles at the weekend as the dvd drive in my elite was slowly dying. Its certainly very quiet, can't hear any noise coming from the power brick either.
House mate has one of the first batch of slim 250GB consoles & the power brick does make some noise, but you can't hear it unless you lean over the desk, so she is happy with it.

Well i can hear the fan on the console from across the room. Just bearing in mind there was nothing else on in the room and the console was downloading so the disc drive was not in use.
Would you all class this as being noisy??

Just wondering if anyone off here could do me a favour? The scenario i have is: The living is very quiet no other noises round, the 360 sits right next to the tv and im on the sofa about 8ft away.
Now with the console on and the disc tray open or closed with no game, Can you hear your Xbox fan?
I can and its not faint. I would not say its excessive compared to my old elite, but i would not say its whisper quiet.
If someone with a similar set up living room could do the same and let me know i would be very happy.
Dont want to make a fuss over nothing with the 360, i have only owned it since friday.

my xbox since day one has been very quiet when there isn't a disk in, otherwise its rather noisy. thats why games i play a lot i tend to install to HDD to shut the thing up! my PS3 on the otherhand makes absolutely no noise to speak of, even when i go really close, sometimes i fear its broken! 
Iceman, there's something wrong with your slim.. I am what I consider VERY FUSSY when it comes to fan noise.. I had the previous xbox360 and couldn't bear to play thanks to all the db it pumped out.
I would say the new 360 slim is quieter than the ps3 slim and even the wii.. My slim is about as loud as a sound proofed pc, which on idle.
Anything more than that there's something wrong.. There is a sensor cos every now and again after a long session the fans can kick in to cool it down.. But generally its whisper quiet.
I can only imagine the sensor is up the duff on yours, which is why you are hearing more fan noise than what was designed..
Take it back and swap it out.. The new slim is bliss on the ears.
Right ok thanks for that, well im going to be taking it back in an hour or so lets hope they give me a new one and i hope its quieter than this. If this one is whisper quiet then i would hate to her slightly noisy lol.
