I'm posting this here as it's not a technical question.

I'm currently paying £25month for 10mb broadband via Virgin Media.
Been looking on their site the last few months and "new" customers
get 10mb broadband for £15 for the "first 3 months" (which is fine) but then
they get it for £20 month for the rest of the time.

I'm all for promotions but to then lower their bill to £20month while im paying £25month seems a tad, er wrong. what do you guys think?

PS- I'm not interested in people who will say its cheap compared to what dialup cost 10 years ago. im more intersted in why im paying £5month more than other people lol.

anyway i've fired an email off to virgin stating im not happy and i will be switching provider if my bill isnt altered to £20month.
cheeky ******* ...

Yea they will Probably let you have it cheaper if you say u will go with someone else, end of the day they want your Custom and id be very surprised if they didnt put the Price down!

I've had virgin bb for 4 years. It started as £18 a month but it's now £20.50 a month. It's also gone from 2mbit to 10mbit. Never haggled, that's just the price. I'm happy with it.

You'll be in a better position if you're original fixed contract has ended, you may even get the new customer deal - but if you're not contractually obligated to stay with them, they'll lower their price for sure. Worth chasing up.

well you would be happy your only paying 50p more than a lot of people.
im paying £5 month more.

You signed a contract to pay a rate, now others have been offered a different rate. By all means ring them, but they are probably under no obligation to lower your bill

I'm on o2 llu adsl2+ up to 16meg. I sync at 19 meg but thats besides the point. I pay 9 pounds something a month as I have an o2 mobile contract. So get discount. I think normally the package is about 15 pounds.

I also have to pay line rental on top, again with o2, another 9ish pounds pcm.

All in all I pay about 55 pounds a month for line rental, unlimited fast broadband, unlimited mobile internet data, and an effectively unlimited call plan on an HTC desire.

Sorry didn't mean it like that. I've never renewed the contract or made any negotiations since the first 12 months passed. They send me letters offering me tv and phone about every 3 weeks.
(for the whole 4 years) About twice a year they launch a phonecall campaign against me of ringing me everyday until i answer and have the 15 Minute conversation about how I don't watch tv and don't want a landline

hey no worries :)

Are you in contract?
If so yer stuffed, you agreed to the price.

If not...

150 on yer landline and ask for cancellations.
Explain to them that you feel other suppliers offer better packages.
I had a pretty nice discount per month when I was with VM.
