Hi

Just wondering if anyone can offer some quick assistance. Driving home tonight, went to use the window washers for the first time in a while and neither front or back were working. I can still hear the motor whirring when I go to activate them but no water coming out.

Had a quick look online and some people talk about a blocked filter. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this or how to resolve it?

Thanks

Resolve it by taking it to Vauxhall. You've wasted a huge amount of money on a nearly new car - at least take advantage of the warranty!

Ah fox :D, was there any need to be so harsh. :p
Oh and OP, just so you know. Your old focus is a far better car than what you have now. :)

Pull the wipers off the screen and pull the washer thing for a little while, it could be that if you haven't used it in a while it simply need to work it's way up the pipes?

edit - and check the fluid level.

you'd be surprised

If the filter is blocked, they'll claim its not covered under warranty and charge the OP for it.

Yep probably blocked up with sludge. You need to pull the motor out of the washer bottle, give it a quick clean, stick it back in, problem solved.
Racking my brain where they are at on a 58 astra, but don't think i've had the need to do one in a while. It's probably going to be in the inner wheel arch area, which would mean engine/inner arch cover off in all likelyhood.

Take it back to the dealer, tell them it hasn't worked since you picked up the car, and that they must fix it as the car isn't roadworthy currently. I'm sure they will just do it, if not kick and scream till you do get it done, threaten going to VOSA about them selling a car that wasn't roadworthy etc.

Dealers record this information on the check sheet they do when a car comes in!

I had this very problem with a 55 Plate 407 Diesel which went out today, could hear the motor and there was a small pool of water under the car.

Anyway checked water was getting to washers first by disconnecting a pipe going to bonnet and there was so removed the jets and used an airline to clear them, one would clear the other wouldn't - went to Peugeot for replacement Washer Jet - £5.53 inc Vat and easy self fit.
