"17inch low pro's all with good tyres"

With the mileage the OP does, so what?

As for that Seat advert...

OP, you will regret your decision if you buy a 1.0L hatchback to save what looks to be less than a grand a year. It's not worth it.

heres what i found so far :

Seat Arosa 1.0s Petrol (2002)
TAX £110
Insurance = £350
MPG = 48
The Disel Version - TAX £30 , Insurance £400 , 64 MPG

Vauxhall Astra 1.4 (2000) -
TAX = £125
Insurance = £375
40 MPG

Clio 1.2 (2002)
MPG = 47
TAX = £125
Insurance = £350

Clio 1.5dci (2002) -
TAX £30
Insurance = £400
MPG = 65

My Car -
Clio Sport 2.0 (2002)

Xsara VTS perhaps if you don't want to lose too much performance? If that's not the case, plenty of cheap (old) runabouts in your budget.

the point of this thread, is to SAVE money, of course id rather keep the sport, but i cant afford it at this time

Don't run a car then, or get a moped. Say total car costs for the Clio are £4000 per year (fuel, insurance, tyres everything) and the lowest you could potentially ever get that is £3400.

That means no matter what car you get you will certainly pay out £3400.

To make a substantual saving you need to either have no car (total car costs £0) or a moped or something (which could say take it down to £1500).

To run a car you are going to have to pay out a fair bit each year, an extra £600 to go from utter crud to a really good hot hatch is not much considering how much you are already paying.

Will £10 a week make such a massive difference to you that you would be happy driving a crud slow shed instead of a fun hot hatch?

£500 a year to downgrade from one of the best hot hatches available, to a 1.0 Seat. Well worth it MAYTE.

To be fair i could find a lot of things i could do with £500 extra a year. If its only a short time in the car then it doesnt really matter what car he drives.

Also to the op: you need to do better insurance searches. I cannot see how a crap astra is going to be only £25 a year cheaper!
