Hi all,

I have a bit of a date with a shexy lady. I'm from Nottingham, she is from Manchester. We have agreed to meet half way (kinda) and go out for a few drinks. Obviously this will include a hotel room ;) but I have no idea where to stay.

Can anyone recommend a hotel that would fit the bill? Near the centre so within walking distance of the pubs / bars.

Either the chesterfield hotel or the Hotel ibis thing (some kind of chain hotel) are in the town centre and would sort you out. If your both used to the nightlife in Nottingham and Manchester respectively then you're going to have a lot of fun in Chesterfield.
Just judge the places by their cover and you'll be fine, if it looks scummy then it is, if it doesn't look scummy then it still might me.
Pubs wise you're pretty well covered, I think theres a pub guide available from the tourist information centre in the middle of town (5mins walk from ibis and chesterfield hotel).
Bars are a different area as more than a few have been populated by the regions idiots. The only bar I can think of thats really in a decent enough state to reccomend to anyone is pacific, it's populated by the pretty boy cardigan brigade as opposed to the cokeheads, chavs, roidheads, idiots of the rest of chesterfield, but it's not cheap.
There's a reason most decent folk round here venture out to Sheffield, wouldn't that be a better choice for you to meet?
 
I'd also have to admit that Sheffield is better than Chesterfield... I don't think it's as bad as Josh said it :D Yeah the only hotel I've ever really noticed is the Ibis place just off the dual carriage-way... Think it advertises a room for £50 a night?

I'd have to recommend Sheffield though! The nightlife is so much better and probably less a-holes
 
Sheffield is also a possibility. I've just never been to Sheffield where I have Chesterfield. I've just never stayed in Chesterfield and also been half drunk by the time I get there so can't remember where things are. Always had a half decent night though.
 
Sheffield will be better. There's a premier inn here which I can see from my window, but I don't know what else with regards to accomodation though.
 
Why not ask your escort to reconmend a nice place? Surely she has plenty of experience of the facilities round there? I thought it would have all been part of the service frankly.

If you are looking for a nice hotel (ie. not an Ibis and for gods sake, please not the Chesterfield Hotel!) then I'd probably go for Ringwood Hall!

It's hardly close to town though! Ibis is probably your best bet. It's not exciting or flash, but you know exactly what you'll be getting. Town is a minute up the road.

It's not near the town though (Also got married there). Certainly not walking distance.

If you are planning on going to Chesterfield I would say either the Ibis(Quite new and clean), which is 2 minutes from town and 5 minutes from the cinema/fastfood. Or the Portland which is in town but they have limited rooms but they have a pub/restaurant below.

Ha ha ha.

Premier Inn have comfy beds. The best I've ever "slept" in. Some have a pub/bar below or attached. You don't want to spend to much. She might get the wrong idea. ;)

Oh, and as we've help spec you somewhere to get your leg over keep us updated with pics.
