I've recently purchased an e5 amp and the NS-1000's on the recommendations i've read all over the internet, but I have immense amounts of crackling nearly all the time when i'm running these cans with the e5.

Soundcard: D2X Xonar

It's worse with dolby headphone tech on too, anyone else have this experience?
Any fixes?

Do you have the noise cancelling switched on at the same time as using the amp? Sometimes the cancelling screws up and makes horrible noises if you have the volume turned up too loud since it's trying to cancel out the sound coming from within the headphones.

So so sorry for the late replies guys...

I have unplugged the usb but it's still crackling. And I don't have the noise cancelling on either

Is the E5 fully charged? Try connecting the headphones directly to the soundcard. What cable are you using to connect E5 with the soundcard?

What about the sound card, that could be the problem, unless you can rule that out by trying another pair of headphones. Sound cards can pick up EMI within the case, and will be heard through speakers or headphones. The D2/D2X does have an EMI shield, but they are not 100% effective.

Entirely possible any of the 3 could be at fault. Headphones, E5 or D2X.

Are you using front panel audio connector on your case ? it will cackle if so as most cables aren't shielded which makes front panel audio connectors worthless.

the e5 will also cackle if it's low on charge try charging it fully (red light will go off when charged) then using it

also people should be careful where they purchase the e5 as there have been fakes floating around

I just started using exactly the same combo and haven't experienced that.

My first suspicion would be that you're using the front panel connector, which often pick up horrible interference from being routed through the case with little shielding.
