Chilean rescue mission on BBC news in 6 hours

LOAM, sorry to break it to you but THERE IS NO "GOD". Stop talking crap.

Hate HATE Hate people who think some "God" exists and "God" saved them from dieing......so pathetic. :(

Ah, Mr Perfect! So the world should revolve around your thoughts.

Dude, give me a break. These guys have been trapped in soaring temperatures, with the first 17 days they didn't even know whether they would be found or not. I would be praying like mad for HOPE. No scientific bull-poo can determine where you are. It was just pure luck that the guys above heard hammering noises and decided to look in a different direction.

Maybe God infuses himself into people's souls, so they are thanking everyone really.

Hate hate HATE people like you who can't respect other people's views, especially when they have been through such a traumatic time.

If I, for some bizarre reason, decided to drop something down the rescue pipe, how long would it take to get to the bottom?

Been bugging me all day.

Hopefully they'll all make it out safely, would not like to be the last person sitting alone waiting for the capsule.

With regards to the God stuff, I suppose if they believed in God anyway, their ordeal in the mine and subsequent rescue is only going to reinforce that belief.

It's like when an aircraft crashes. If many/all survive it's often claimed (by the survivors and others) to be a 'miracle' by God. If it slams into a mountain with total loss of life, you don't often hear the relatives blaming God for not helping.

really ripping through them now, if you pardon the expression. How many recovery chaps are still down there, 6 ?

the last person to be lifted out, im assuming there is a lock on the inside so keep him secure ?
anyone know ?

this whole thing has really made me think,
the whole thing is mind blowing, the way the rescue has been planned and executed it second to none, im amazed and everytime i watch the firt guy emerge, i get a sense of happyness, its strange that something the other side of the world that has nothing to do with me has effected me.
these people are strong, brave, couragous people.

Careful...

LoL am I heading into plane on a conveyor belt territory, surely they will accelerate at the same rate but terminal velocity would depend on several factors, wind resistance, shape etc etc.

Oh god no, what have I done.

Using t=sqrt(2d/g) which is an extreme simplification it would take 11.04 seconds.

But this excludes terminal velocity (mass, shape etc), air resistance (air density, mass, shape etc), variations in the gravitation pull so forth. And of course whether it was launched from a plane on a conveyor belt and if you were also eating a sandwich sliced in two at the same time (also depends on whether you'd count it as one sandwich sliced in two halves, or two sandwiches.)

;)
