Chilean rescue mission on BBC news in 6 hours

LoL am I heading into plane on a conveyor belt territory, surely they will accelerate at the same rate but terminal velocity would depend on several factors, mass, shape etc etc.

Oh god no, what have I done.

OK, good, you saved it at the last minute. I had a nasty feeling you were about to tell us that a bowling ball would go quicker than an egg, or something. The air resistance thing is to do with shape, but definitely not mass, but never mind.

To the guy who asked how long it would take... assuming g = 10m/s^2, no air resistance and the distance is 625m, for rounder figures...

s = ut + 1/2at^2
625 = 0t + 1/2*10*t^2
625=5t^2
125=t^2
t~11s

And when it gets to the bottom it will be travelling at...

v^2=u^2+2as
v^2=0^2+2*10*625
v^2=12500
v~112m/s

Aye von i realised mass might not effect it, I remember some of school ;)
Anyway I changed it to air resistance on an edit :)

In other news 26/33 now

I know it's not the time nor place but there's been a real lack of Latin blert on show during this rescue, I'm not after cheerleaders or anything but surely they can muster up some eye candy for the rescued chaps, is it to much to ask?

"and some pc data popping up on screen there on the feed."

Nope, sorry mate. It's Avira AV (I think it was personal ;) nice one chile) popping up. No real important data there!

Apart from that; amazing rescue effort....

That's about as good quality as it gets too, no idea what they're streaming it off but it's awful quality :/.

A lot of them are coming out rather chippa, it has to be said.

I knew it, sky have just said "lots of people really pleased to see their favourite ex footballer come to the surface" I knew gazza was there.

Just caught up with what I recorded on Sky last night and watching today's events this has to be one of the most fascinating things I've watched in my lifetime.

Makes a change to have a good news story dominating the media for a change.

Our media is getting more like reality television with each passing day. :o

An hourly update would have been sufficient, rather than 24hrs+ wall to wall coverage and massive time filling.

It's definitely in Spanish. The second line, below the top bold one, has an upside down question mark at the start.

First word on the second line is 'What'. So I'm guessing it's asking 'What do you want to do with this damn program trying to access the internet?' :D

That started off quite amusing, but they're all in the public's eye. While knowing this the guy asked both to attend. She clearly has ****ed him right off - it's one heck of a statement he made...

This really angered me though:

Daily Mail said:
Mr Barrios is thought not to be alone in his complex domestic arrangements.

According to reports, another Barrios – Carlos – who was rescued yesterday has a five-year-old son with a woman he has not divorced and his girlfriend of seven months is pregnant.

Another miner is said to have four women claiming his affections and perhaps soon-to-be-increased income – a wife he has not divorced, his current live-in girlfriend, a third woman who claims to have had his son and another who says she is having an affair with him.

Have the media gone too far with this clearly quite private knowledge? This is all about miners trapped underground and them getting out after a considerable amount of time. But whatever sells papers I suppose. :rolleyes:

It's going to be pretty amazing if the new father is greeted by his newborn! Staying up to watch it!
